The Finance Ministry’s Grants and Benefits Service has opened applications for 2025-26 student grants for two groups: families of Greek students who attended an academic institution in Cyprus during the year, and repatriated Cypriot families whose children studied in Cyprus or abroad.

For the first group, the family must live permanently in Greece. For the second, the family must be repatriated. In both cases the student must have attended the institution in the 2025-26 academic year, according to the announcement reported by Phileleftheros.

The application is made by a parent or guardian, not by the student, and only through the service’s platform at sg-yxe.mof.gov.cy. The window closes at 2pm on Monday 30 November, not at midnight.

The account is the first hurdle

Every applicant needs a CY Login account, the government’s single sign-in for online services. It can be created on the CY Login registration page.

Repatriated Cypriot applicants must also verify the account, either through e-banking, by video call, or in person at a Citizen Service Centre with an identity card. Greek applicants do not need to verify the account, according to the announcement.

That difference matters for timing. Verification can take longer than registration, so a repatriated family that starts on 29 November may not finish before the deadline. The practical move is to create and verify the account first, then open the grant application.

Check the category before you start

The scheme is narrow. A Greek family living in Cyprus, or a Cypriot family that has not repatriated, is not covered by this window simply because a child studies in Cyprus. Check the categories on the service’s platform before you start.

If you are unsure whether you qualify, read the service page before creating an account. The deadline is fixed, and the announcement does not mention an extension.
